Blessed Wednesday to you. Was today giving “I’m coming for all you have” energy to anyone other than me?

We will dive right back into our February bible study of Matthew 6: 19-21.

Here it is again for your reference…

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

This week I am asking this of the scriptures….What do thieves come to steal?

First of all, everything. At a basic level, a thief wants to steal everything you have; to leave you with nothing. Last week we learned how moth and rust can destroy and wear down valuable things, but thieves come to steal from you. They may leave you with a shell and nothing left inside of it.

The first thing I can think of that I would want to store up in heaven, which is also a treasure that I believe heaven values, is my MIND. It is the first gift I offered the Lord when I came to Christ.

The mind is where you choose, believe, understand, learn, teach, perceive, decide, comprehend. It contains our personality expressed inside and outside of ourselves and to the Lord, and it’s the platform from which we give out what we have to others. To take the mind is to take the person, right?

So if a thief could steal my mind, it could steal me. It could influence my choices and beliefs and lead me to be a different person. The mind can be a prism or an island of peace. It’s where I can disassociate or be fully engaged.

If I were MY enemy, I would steal my mind–The one thing I offer as my best gift to God.

I give this gift to my Lord, my husband, my children, my family, my community, my business, my job, and my neighbor.

I can’t tell any of you what your gift is that’s worth stealing, but I would bet the enemy wants to steal your mind too.

Tonight, I want you to pray for the Lord to cover your mind, heart, thoughts, and feelings. These are precious to God and also the source of much of the trouble we all experience.

Next week, we will talk about the context of Matthew 6, how to pray against moths, rust, and thieves, and finding safety in what the Lord values and protects. Thank you for reading.
